A little bit about ourselves...
Sharkey Animal Portraits consists of two animal lovers, photographer Jenn Sharkey and "wrangler" Tim Moore.
We are both Wisconsin natives (Jenn from Rhinelander and Tim from Verona), and we both grew up with animal family members. We each agree that no home is complete without some type of animal companion around!
We are also the resident caretakers of Windogs Pet Lodge boarding kennel, and we love seeing all our old friends when their people go on vacation! Since Jenn is a photographer, we photographed many of the animals during their stay, and so many people loved the images that we started getting requests for more formal portraits! Since we believe that animals are members of the family, why not include them in the family portrait album?
We know that every animal has a unique, often times even quirky personality, and whether it is a goofball puppy, or an old grey face, we want to make sure that your unique animal is always remembered.
We know how heartbreaking it is to lose an animal companion... we lost two of our four-legged family members almost two years ago now, and we still miss them every day. Jones was a crotchety
14 year old pit-bull terrier, who in his younger days would play with rocks that were as big as his head! And Ghost was a hyper-active little spaz of a kitten (aren't they all, though?) who raced around the house and into our hearts in no time flat. We miss them both terribly, but are very thankful for the many, many photographs we have to remember them by.
Our home is just not complete without our animal companions, and currently we are a family of four. Porter is a 3 year old pit-bull terrier, and is our official "greeter" at the studio. Be careful though, all she wants to do is smother you with kisses!
Manny, a year-old orange tabby cat, is our newest family member, and though he had a rough beginning as a stray, he's settling in to the family perfectly. (Photo coming soon!)
We look forward to sharing our lives with both of them... they certainly keep us amused!
